Simplifying and amplifying content and navigation improves access for users

WHO

The Western Integrated Family Violence Committee (WIFVC) is a representative, whole-of-sector reference group that provides regional leadership in service integration, planning, policy and advocacy to improve service responses to family violence in Melbourne’s west.

NEED

WIFVC needed a website which improved access to available information, resources and events for key stakeholders. WIFVC also required the website to have capacity for a service directory function, with the same priorities around accessibility and clarity.

Other requirements around look and feel were a clean and professional look without being too ‘corporate’, and the use of illustrations or graphic element in place of images.

SOLUTION

To achieve this Boojum:

  • upgraded WIFVC to the 7.1 version of Squarespace and Squarespace Fluid Engine functionality

  • improved page layout for more efficient and clear presentation of content

  • improved navigation between different content/pages

  • custom coded the Service Directory – to provide a list of local service organisations.

  • created warm, friendly and inclusive bespoke illustrations for WIFVC to use across the site and social media/promotions

At Boojum we love making complex tasks simple

The Service Finder was a critical aspect of the site, reducing the workload of WIFVC staff from hours of calls to a simple, self-serve process for users to find service providers that match their needs. It turned the labyrinthine world of service providers into a few simple clicks.
