A web app for the University of Melbourne to support medication tapering and active care

WHO

The University of Melbourne is Australia's number one university and world leader in education, teaching and research excellence.

Boojum is proud of its long-standing service to the University of Melbourne. Boojum has worked with the University since 2005, developing complex custom software applications.

NEED

Wiser AD (Anti-Depressant) is a structured program to support people whose doctors have recommended that they can go off antidepressant medication. The project seeks to redress the widespread damaging health effects of the over-prescription of Anti-Depressants.

SOLUTION

In collaboration with University of Melbourne medical specialists, we have designed, developed and usability tested a web-application that:

  • assesses candidate suitability

  • calculates a medication taper-schedule based on candidate data

  • provides a structured program to support well-being, and to taper medication

  • tracks candidate well-being, and send alerts to nominated helpers if trigger-points are reached

  • provides data and management tools to authorised University of Melbourne staff.

WiserAD was custom-coded using the highly secure Django framework, and Python programming language.
